Waterfalls arent something we usually associate with India and thats sad because there are plenty of really beautiful ones here in our own country. In fact, most of our states have at least one waterfall. But how many of them have we heard about? Well, not many?  Take a look at the most drop dead gorgeous waterfalls in India that are going to make you feel travel sick.

    1. Chitrakoot Falls, Chhattisgarh

Chitrakoot waterfalls are only 29 metres tall, but what makes it beautiful is its massive circumference. During the monsoons, there is a spectacular showdown of water making the view worth every bit of your time. However, it remains the perfect place to capture profile pictures throughout the year.

    2. The Langshiang Falls, Meghalaya

The Langshiang Falls measure 340 meters and comprise a series of waterfalls, leading to one long and gorgeous fall. These are the third largest falls in India and are located on the Nangkhunaum river island. One has to travel by boat to reach the falls which is an experience of a kind!

    3. Meenmutty Falls, Kerala

These great falls are located 29 kms away from Kalpetta in the Wayanad District in Kerala. The waterfall gets divided into three parts, and stretches over 300 meters. To get to the fall you need to complete a 2 km hike which makes it an adventurous outing. These falls are best visited in the monsoon when the river is full of water.

    4. Kune Falls, Pune, Maharashtra

Kune falls are located in Lonavla, Pune district, Maharashtra. It measures 100 meters and splits into three before submerging into the valley below. The best part about these falls is that they are surrounded by a forest which makes the entire locale full of greenery. There is a park that overlooks the waterfall, and a trek that you have to do to reach the waterfalls.

    5. Jog Falls, Karnataka

At Jog Falls, river Sharavati flows down from a height of 829 ft and breaks into four different waterfalls - Raja, Rani, Roarer and Rocket. These falls, also known as Gerusoppaa Falls, are the tallest waterfalls in India. They come to life during the monsoon season, and remain a beautiful piece of nature 365 days of the year.

    6. Jang Falls, Arunachal Pradesh

Jang Falls are believed to be one of Indias most beautiful waterfalls. Also known by the name Nuranang Falls, these are situated about 40 kms from Tawang town and make for a popular tourist attraction in the state. Jang Falls are created by the Nuranang River and drop down amidst the lush green mountains from a height of 100 metres.

    7. Bhimlat Falls, Rajasthan

We all imagine Rajasthan as this dry and arid region. But Bhimlat Falls are a major attraction of the state. Though, only 60m in height, these falls are spectacular looking. Located on the Bundi-Chhitorgarh road, the waterfall was created by Bhim for his mother Kunti. However, historians think these falls originated after an earthquake.

    8. Dhuandhar Falls, Madhya Pradesh

Dhuandar Falls is located at Bhedaghat which is 30 km away from Jabalpur. As the name suggests, Dhuan means smoke, and the mist surrounding this fall looks exactly like smoke. Crystal white water flows to form a gorge known as the Marble Rock. Just about 98 ft high, it is still a popular destination full of evergreen trees and shrubs. The sight of the Narmada river falling down from a great height makes for a truly breathtaking view.

    9. Thalaiyar Falls, Tamil Nadu

Thalaiyar Falls or Rat Tail Falls are among the tallest and most loved waterfalls in Tamil Nadu. Gushing down from a height of 297 metre, this waterfall looks like a tail when seen from a distance. Trekking is the only way to reach here. Presenting some of the most magical views, Thalaiyar Falls are a must visit for every nature lover.

    10. Rajdari Falls, Uttar Pradesh

These waterfalls are the most different waterfalls in India. Why? The scene is similar to a flight of stairs when the water gushes down, giving a mind blowing view. It is located in Chakai, Uttar Pradesh, and has a height of 65 meters.

    11. Elephant Falls, Shillong

The famous Elephant Falls have been an inspiration for several paintings, thanks to their mystical appearance. Located 12 km away from Shillong, it's always misty and foggy around the falls. There are a total of three falls which can be reached using the small trails around. You might get wet and muddy here, but its definitely worth it.
