Despite a warning from a British CID of a plot to assassinate Jinnah during this ride, the program proceeded on schedule. Mountbatten joined Jinnah on this ride from Victoria Road till Government House. On reaching Government House, Jinnah kept his hand on Mountbatten's thigh and remarked, 'Thank God I brought you back alive'. 'I brought you back alive' retorted Mountbatten. Later on it was learnt that one of the conspirators lost his nerve at the crucial time.

Justice Munir deals a death blow to Pakistan's judiciary
... When Governor General Ghulam Muhammed dismissed the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan in 1954, the Sindh Chief Court declared his action ultra vires of the constitution. However under a lure of Deputy governor General ship offered to Justice Munir he validated the order under the Doctrine of Necessity and dealth a death blow to the judiciary. Subsequently sodomy cases were filed against the honourable judges of the Sindh Chief Court except Cornelius, who ruled against the Governor General.

Shameful indeed. One of the judges sent off his son to London for studies. He became Dean and Rector of the Aga Khan University. And imagine that was 53 years ago and people took it lying down. Why is everyone so worked up now. Where was our nation's collective conscience in 1954.
